
Press Release: 2016 Ohio Fairs’ Queen, Mary Buehler

The Ohio Fair Managers are pleased to announce the selection and Crowning of the 2016 Ohio Fairs’ Queen Mary Buehler. Mary was chosen from a field of 74 County and Independent Fair Queens and Crowned on Saturday January 9 during the Combined Senior and Junior Fair General Session. In attendance were over 1900 Senior and Junior Fair Board members.
The Key Note address was delivered by Jim Tressel, President Youngstown State University. His address titled “Macte Virtute” was well received with by the combined Junior and Senior Fair audiences.
Mary was born and raised in Shelby County on a crop production farm. Her main stay of projects in 4-H is Horses and FFA Vegetable and shop projects.
Mary is the daughter of Judy and Greg Buehler; she has an older sister and brother. Mary graduated from Anne High School, Anne Ohio and is attending the Ohio State University main campus in Columbus majoring in Agribusiness and Applied Economics.
Mary’s 4-H and FFA span 7 years of involvement with Horses, officer in her 4-H club “Horse and Rider 4-H Club” showing horses and qualifying to State Fair 7 years, Ohio State Fair Grand Champion trail in Hand winner and 4-H Camp Counselor for 4 years for her county camp of 200. Mary’s FFA involvement: Anna FFA for 5 years attending National FFA convention for 2 years, Ohio FFA convention for 4 years, State President, competed 14 times in State Career Development Events, and placed 2nd in State Proficiency. Mary currently is National FFA Convention Leadership Delegate, Ohio FFA Camp Staff, and Ohio FFA vice president.
Mary in addition has served as a junior leader, Eco- Warrior, Buckeyes against Hunger and volunteered at the local food pantry, Asthma Walk, Dorothy Love Retirement Home, and many other local civic and charity groups in Shelby County.
Mary will represent Ohio’s State, County and Independent Agricultural Fairs for 2016 and will be involved in the Queens process and serve during the 2017 Ohio Fair Managers Convention in Columbus Ohio January 5-8, 2017.
